Changing the Story
An interview with a woman in a homeless shelter changed Cathrine Glydensted’s view of journalism forever. She realised the questions she was trained to ask were leading her — and her journalism colleagues — down the path of stories that further divided readers and missed the potential of uncovering multiple viewpoints within the stories they were covering and crafting. This epiphany led to a focus on what she calls “constructive journalism”. At the time of this interview she was involved with supporting journalists covering the Swedish elections to provide a more balanced coverage.
